2026 Invited Speaker: Wang Xuefu, PhD
Biography:
The founder of Zhi Mian Institute for Counseling and Psychotherapy, Nanjing, China, Dr. Wang has been engaged in counseling and psychotherapy practice for almost 30 years. He created Zhi Mian Therapy—a Chinese indigenous approach to psychotherapy (based on Lu Xun’s zhi mian thinking) with an integration of existentialism. In recent two decades, he has been in collaboration with international existential psychologists and therapists (Louis Hoffman, Kirk Schneider, Erik Craig, Emmy van Deurzen, Ernesto Spinelli, etc) in promoting East-West dialogue and joint research. He has published papers in world existential and humanistic psychology journals, and contributed to Wiley World Handbook on Existential Therapy(Ed. Emmy van Deurzen et al.) and APA World Handbook of Existential-Humanistic Psychology(Ed. Louis Hoffman et al…). He is the editorial board member of the Journal of Humanistic Psychology and the Humanistic Psychologist.
Dr. Wang is the recipient of Charlotte and Karl Buhler Award (2013) of APA, Division 32. Wang Xuefu has published 13 books (in Chinese), including The Wounded, A Path to Growth, A Heart to Heal, Becoming Yourself, Thus Spoke the Zhi Mian Healer, Plumbing the Mysteries of the Human Soul, The Voice of Zhi Mian. etc.
